PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMS
- Communicating Assertively
- Positive self-esteem is essential to success at work as well as life. Our feelings about ourselves are communicated to others and can either help or hinder our way to success. Participants will identify their communication strengths as well as barriers to personal power. They will develop a personal action plan to utilize strengths and remove barriers.
- Managing Stress
- Research on stress concludes that our interpretation of and response to situations which confront us can contribute to our distress. In this program, we focus on thinking patterns which lead to distress reactions. Each participant will complete and analyze a "Stress Processing Report" which is a tool researched and designed by Human Synergistics of Plymouth, Michigan.
- Team Communication
- Designed for people whose jobs require them to participate on teams in the workplace. How well team members communicate with one another can impact the success of a team, and the final results of a work project. Participants are assigned several team activities, and then practice giving peer feedback on behaviors/actions that were demonstrated during the activities.
- Understanding Behaviors in the Workplace
- Just as all of us use a preferred hand, we all have a preferred style we use when interacting with others. Understanding our preferred style, being aware of the styles of our co-workers and adapting as necessary can improve our working relationships. This course draws upon the sixteen classical styles as identified in the DiSC Profile by Performax. (DiSC is a trademark of Carlson Learning Company).
- Understanding How Others See You
- Understanding how we work with others, and how others perceive our behavior style, can help us be more effective in our jobs. With this insight, leaders can learn to adapt as people and situations require. In this workshop, we provide feedback from five co-workers on participants' styles and offer techniques on how to incorporate this information on the job.
- Working in a Diverse Workforce
- Understanding, acceptance and tolerance of peoples' differences are required of all of us to succeed in today's diverse workforce. Through several activities and resources, we assist participants in identifying and increasing their level of knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of those differences.
- Working with Multiple Bosses
- Finally, a workshop for those who must effectively handle the demands and challenges of working for more than one boss. Participants learn how to cope with the stress of multiple demands, assert themselves when establishing priorities, adapt to various conflict styles, and implement practical time management ideas that simplify working with their bosses.
